Take Another Look (#108)

In some of our zoo buildings (the jungle, desert dome, etc) they just let the birds fly around free.  I heard a familiar sound that I hear everyday at my feeder…a starling.  I looked around and didn’t see one, but I spotted this beauty.  When I got home I googled it, it IS a starling, but a different variety…a glossy starling that is found in Africa.  Why can’t my starlings look like this?

  1. That is nothing like any starling I’ve seen here, either! Starlings aren’t native to America. They were brought here by some dude who thought we ought to have all the birds which were mentioned in Shakespeare. Some people have more money than sense.
